Chiliz Group, operator of the Socios.com fan token platform, has secured a 51% controlling stake in OG Esports, the storied competitive gaming organization. Founded by Dota 2 icons Johan "nOtail" Sundstein and Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, OG made history as the first team to win back-to-back titles at The International in 2018 and 2019.
The esports pioneer debuted its fan token on Socios.com in 2020, recently surpassing $100 million in market capitalization—a first for team tokens. OG's token surged 9% to $16.88 following the acquisition news. Chiliz teased upcoming Web3 integrations and enhanced fan benefits for token holders.
